CHEM-DRY OF THE NORTHERN NECK

In 1991, Mat and Tracey Ficklin opened Chem-Dry of the Northern Neck in Lively, Virginia. Literally, the business was begun in the guest room of their home. The customer base was made up of friends and relatives. As the business steadily grew, it was moved to a larger office location in downtown Lively, Virginia (a lively place, indeed!) Two years at this location proved that a larger facility would be needed, and the business again relocated to an office/warehouse facility in the Lancaster Court House area. www.lancasterva.com Chem-Dry of the Northern Neck made it's home at the County seat for four years, steadily growing and expanding their services. In 2004, the decision was made to expand the franchise into another franchise territory, the Middle Peninsula area, www.middlepeninsula.com and to purchase and relocate to 805 Kamps Mill Road in Kilmarnock, Virginia. Today, an 8,000 square foot warehouse and office facility perfectly houses both Chem-Dry of the Northern Neck I & II. Chem-Dry of the Northern Neck I services the original counties of Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, Essex and Lower Westmoreland, while Chem-Dry of the Northern Neck II services Gloucester, Middlesex, Mathews, King William and King and Queen Counties. Our customer base has grown a bit since the early days! We know that it is because of faithful customers who have recognized the benefits of Chem-Dry Carpet Cleaning, and we like to think it's also because we are giving great service and exception cleaning. We have very much enjoyed being a member of the world's largest carpet cleaning organization and the cutting edge technology that can only be obtained through such an association. Chem-Dry is more than just a carpet cleaning solution. It is much more than a unique process or even a growing franchise system. Chem-Dry is really a true "Horatio Alger" story, the tale of a determined and energetic American Entrepreneur named Robert Harris.
As a young man working his way through law school in the early 1970's, Robert Harris was a carpet cleaner who was working for someone else. Unhappy with the performance of the cleaning products then available, he began looking for a better solution. His research stretched into years and years of studying the chemical properties of cleaning formulas and years of backbreaking experiments which required cleaning areas of dirty carpets with one formula and then another.
Eventually, he found his formula, a revolutionary carbonated solution that not only cleaned beautifully, but was also safe and non-toxic. With the birth of Chem-Dry came self-employment and success. The demand for his cleaning services mushroomed and soon friends and family clamored for his secret. From the first small group of franchises, the Chem-Dry network has grown to thousands of successful franchises around the world. As the Chem-Dry family increases, Robert Harris has seen his own success story repeated by many franchisees.
